At their Uryside premises in Inverurie, Gaulds Gas knew it was time to take control of their energy usage. With rising costs, multiple SSEN standing charges, and a growing focus on sustainability, the business needed more than just a solar install—they needed a smarter energy strategy. 

Hosie Electrical were brought in to design and deliver a bespoke solar PV system that not only reduced Gaulds’ reliance on the grid, but also allowed for internal redistribution of power between units. 

Scope of Work: A Tailored Solar Installation with a Smarter Supply Solution 

Our team installed a custom Solar PV system, but what made this job unique was the additional infrastructure installed to help Gaulds reduce their utility overheads: 

• New supply cable run from the main distribution board to one of their units
• Allows the unit to be powered directly from solar generation
• Reduces standing charges across multiple SSEN accounts
• Maximises the use of self-generated energy 

“The goal was more than just solar panels—it was to optimise power use across their site and future-proof their energy costs,” said Stephen Booth, Operations Manager.

The project was delivered on time and to budget, with zero notable disruptions. Key members of the delivery team included:
